It’s rumoured that any appearance of ‘design’ in Nature is a self-deception in the face of the fundamental laws of mathematics and physics which govern such things. An instinctive rationalist – I still prefer to stay astonished by the forms and patterns that echo through the plant and animal kingdoms.
The delicate tracery of the dried husk of the Cape Gooseberry is one such echo. Looking at these images – the subject could be a strange inhabitant of the deep sea or the cage in which my own heart beats.
